Taylor Swift: A Style Icon In The Making

By  |  0 Comments

Past the days of Teardrops On My Guitar and singing Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift is paving a new path for herself in the Pop culture. It’s not just her new Billboard topping album that’s gaining Swift all sorts of attention. This young woman who once portrayed the cute country girl has created her own style as a sophisticated classy young fashionista. Here are some moments where T-Swift proved herself to be a style icon.

Mastering the crop top

It would have never dawned on me that a crop top could be classy but Swift has proven that these short tops are perfect ensembles in a girl’s wardrobe. If you pay close attention to her look, you’d ask yourself if Swift even has a belly button and guess what…that’s exactly what she wants you to wonder. In an interview, she was quoted saying “I don’t like showing my belly button. When you start showing your belly button then you’re really committing to the midriff thing. I only partially commit to the midriff thing—you’re only seeing lower rib cage. I don’t want people to know if I have one or not. I want that to be a mystery.” So there you have it ladies. You can wear this midriff baring number without having to show it all.

Match It Up

There’s no other way to describe the matching crop top and skirt combo except CHIC! Swift has definitely put this look on everyone’s list of must tries and if it’s not on yours you should definitely consider it. I’m not a fan of matching looks but Swift has proven that choosing the right pieces can really take away from the lameness. The outfit speaks with such style that you almost forget it’s the same exact pattern on the top and bottom. It’s a daring risk that she made and it’s a five star on at that.

It’s all about Bob

T-Swift is singing a new tune and it’s all about Bob. That’s right, everyone noticed when this blonde beauty chopped off her famous curly blonde locks and opted for a classy and sleek bob. While this change was drastic, it was a grand slam in the sophistication department. It makes Swift looks older but can be cute when adding a headband or twisting the ends around a curling iron. This haircut has me ready to grab the scissor and snip my ends up to.

Twinkle Twinkle

Sequins and sparkles have been a key component in clothing lately and that hasn’t escaped Swift’s outfits. When wearing sparkly pieces, you don’t need to overdo it with the makeup or hair. Those gleaming beads and shiny discs make enough of a splash on their own, so tone it down. Swift does a great job with this by wearing minimal makeup and placing her hair in a casual up do. It’s sexy without being showy which is important.

Vintage

Don’t forget about the thrift shops because Swift definitely hasn’t. Her style is mixed with different pieces that could have been found in the 50’s or 80’s. One day it’s a cute full skirt with a sweater and the next it’s tight pants with a rock and roll jacket. What makes Swift’s style is her lack of fear to try what others won’t. She’s putting unique patterns and styles from different eras back on the map for young women everywhere. By taking a chance, Swift is positioning herself to be a young woman who can be known for more than her chart topping singles.
